Katie joined the IOMBN in 2015 and is the Head of Communications. Katie is the Manager of Bridge, The Manx Angel Investor Network and works with entrepreneurs and investors to accelerate business growth on the Island. In her spare time, Katie volunteers as a Trustee for Victim Support and is a keen hockey player.

Vice Chair

Richard joined the committee in 2014 after being an active member of the IOMBN for over 5 years. He is now vice-chairman and Membership Officer, responsible for maintaining and extending the IOMBN’s extensive corporate and individual members. As a Senior Account Manager at Aon (Isle of Man) Ltd, he and his team are responsible for some of the Island's largest corporate and commercial insurance broking accounts, dealing with a varied range of insurance placements.

Richard Smith


Having joined the committee in early 2014, Rachael became Vice-Chair in September of that year, Chairman in September 2015 and President in March 2017. Rachael’s role is to support the Chairman and Vice-Chairman in their leadership of the committee and to help shape its strategic direction. Rachael is a Senior Tax Manager at SMP Accounting & Tax and is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant working in UK, International and IOM tax consultancy.

As a past Vice-Chairman, Chairman and President (2014 - 2017), Kate has now resumed to normal committee life! She joined the IOMBN with an aim of making the IOMBN a platform for the business community to network and to communicate with one another. Her role as head of marketing sees her working closely with the leadership team to continue to develop the IOMBN brand across the Isle of Man business community. Kate works for Browne Craine & Co and is the firm’s marketing manager.

Katherine is secretary of the IOMBN, having joined the committee in 2014. She is responsible for minute-taking and calendar co-ordination, and has also been involved in drafting a revised constitution. Katherine is an advocate in the corporate department at Appleby, working on a broad range of matters including banking transactions, corporate restructuring and providing regulatory advice. In her spare time Katherine is part of Manx National Heritage’s “Labyrinth: History in Action” group, and is also an enthusiast for coffee and cake.

Alex Wilson joined the Committee in October 2016 from the Department of Economic Development where she manages a diverse programme of over 100 events and coordinates the marketing support around this busy programme. Alex is a fully qualified professional marketer with 6 years’ experience across the public, private and third sectors. In her spare time Alex supports small businesses with social media and spends time with friends, family and her dog making the most of the wonderful opportunities our Island affords us.

Clare joined the IOMBN in 2014 and is currently Treasurer. Clare is a manager in tax at KPMG LLC specializing in UK and IOM corporate tax and is both a chartered accountant and a chartered tax advisor. In her spare time she runs a brownie unit in Douglas and can often be found enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Clare Kelly


Maddy joined the IOMBN in July 2015 and works with the Learning Events team. After studying for a degree in Business Management, Maddy began working at Barclays as a Credit Specialist in February 2011. In September 2014 she moved to the Relationship Team and is now the Account Executive for local based Captive Insurance companies. As well as being a fan of horse riding, skiing and travelling, Maddy takes part in a number of charity events in her spare time and is about to commence training with a view to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in October 2016.

Having been an IOMBN member for over 2 years, Ben joined the committee at the start of 2016 and works in the social events team. After completing a degree in Economics, Ben joined Aon where he works as an Insurance Manager for a number of multinational clients. Ben is currently studying for a Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma, and spends most of his spare time travelling.

James Singer


Scott joined the Committee in January 2016. He is a Divisional Director at Cains advocates where he advises companies and financial institutions in all manner of corporate, commercial, structuring and financing transactions, both within the Isle of Man and internationally.

Cameron has been part of the IOMBN for a number of years and has seen it grow to its current position and membership. Cameron is a past Chairman and currently works at Sovereign.

Cameron Halsall


Dearbhla joined the IOMBN in October 2016. She is a Quantity Surveyor working at Dandara and has worked for the developer between the Isle of Man and Aberdeen since 2011, working on both Commercial and Residential developments. She spends most of her free time studying towards her MBA with Oxford Brooke's University. Other interests include travelling, outdoor sports such as running, snow boarding, triathlons and taking part in charity events.

Dearbhla Doyle


Chris is a past Chairman and President and has been involved in a variety of capacities including membership and IT. After leaving the armed forces in the late nineties he returned to the Island and started work within the financial services industry, initially within life assurance administration where he qualified as a financial advisor before moving into IT. Chris is currently Deputy Director of IT at Hansard Global Plc. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and sports including rugby, golf and skiing.

Chris Darnill


Michael has returned to the Island after a long absence in the U.K. He is delighted to be back home and to integrating with the vibrant business community on the Island. Apart from the IOMBN, his major interest (in consultation and co-operation with the D.E.D.) is using the contacts he has built up to encourage businesses to start up in or re-locate to the Island. He believes that the outward looking and “can do” attitude he has encountered generally bodes well for the Island’s future prosperity and international profile.

Michael Forrester


Merita joined Sefton Group plc in 2016, and has a wealth of experience across Marketing, internal and external Communications, international Event Management and Sponsorship. She has spent a large part of her career working at a senior level within Communications in the offshore professional and financial services sector. A trained Broadcast Journalist, she has experience of working in national radio and television, and locally in a PR and creative agency where she managed the accounts of a number of international and tri-Island brands in the telecoms, banking, education and hospitality sectors.

Merita Taylor


Tara joined the committee in September 2016 after having gained a lot from attending the IOMBN’s events for over a year. Tara qualified as an Advocate in December 2013 and works for DQ Advocates. Tara advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial litigation matters but in particular provides advice on contractual disputes, banking and insolvency, corporate and trust disputes, and non-contentious corporate and trust applications. In her spare time Tara enjoys dancing, skiing and generally keeping fit and more importantly spending time with friends and family.
